Packaging items often conceal a great deal of expertise that is not apparent at first sight. When for example several requirements need to be met that are to be combined in a single solution. Alternatively, if quality defects need to be ruled out according to the Poka Yoke principle – e.g. by means of a packaging that prevents incorrect insertion of the workpieces and ensures safe withdrawal during production. PMS Thomin develops appropriate solutions for this.

TASK

Development of a cost-effective packaging that is “mistake-proof” according to the Poka Yoke principle. The reason behind this is that the packaging items are filled manually, but during the production, the workpieces are withdrawn by an automaton. Furthermore, it is intended that the workpieces should be stackable, without incurring any damage.

360° DEVELOPMENT

Manufacture of a heat-moulded packaging that by means of a specially constructed lid, can only be closed and locked in place when all components are correctly inserted in the packaging. Everything subject to the proviso that the components to be packed do not contact each other, the packaging is stackable and fits into the corresponding small load carriers.

THE RESULT

Depending on the production process of the flange bearing and web, the customer can select from among the different packaging variants.
